Marijuana

Diseases Related to Marijuana Use- It is suggested by well-supported scientific studies, that marijuana has negative affects on people with pre-existing immune system insufficiency caused by the very diseases that marijuana is said to treat. It is indicated that marijuana is also a major cause of respiratory illnesses such as respiratory cancer, chronic bronchitis, inflammation of the lung, and pulmonary infections. Another thing that marijuana is known to affect is you mental health/memory. It is suggested that marijuana can cause many mental disorders, including acute toxic psychosis, panic attacks, flashbacks, delusions, depersonalization, hallucinations, paranoia, depression, and uncontrollable aggressiveness. Marijuana has long been known to trigger attacks of mental illness, such as bipolar (manic-depressive) psychosis and schizophrenia.

Connections Between Marijuana and Birth Defects- While there is no sound evidence concerning the use of marijuana during pregnancy, some studies on animals indicate that the risk for miscarriage increases if marijuana is used early in pregnancy. There is also mixed evidence as to whether marijuana is associated with a low birth rate or premature birth. Research has also suggested that pregnant women who smoke marijuana have a 2.3 times greater risk of stillbirth. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists does not recommend the use of marijuana while trying to get pregnant, during pregnancy, or while breastfeeding.

Be Quiet

“ Sit down and be quiet!” “Ha, Ha, Ha!” is the reply I get. My little cousins run back down the hall defiantly. “Why on earth did I agree to babysit them?” I think to myself. I don’t even know if I’m going to get paid!
I was babysitting my little cousins while my aunt ran some errands. Then my aunt walks in and says they are really hyper because they were on medicine. “Great” I thought they would never settle down. What was I going to do?
After,I get them inside and they are just a talking ‘Madi can we play blocks?” “Madi can we get out the Lego’s?” Finally, I said “Ok, let’s go play blocks.” So, we went and played blocks for a little while. After we played blocks we played several different things. We played Lego’s, Barbies, cars, school, and dress up. I knew that they would probably be ok to play a while on their own so I decided to go and watch a movie. Through out the movie, I was listening to them while I was watching, and I thought they were doing ok so I stopped listening. That was a big mistake. Chaos came running at me like a bull. “Madi, Madi, Madi”. Something must have gone wrong or they were bored. I knew they wouldn’t listen if I was nice so I knew I was going to have to yell. “Everyone sit down NOW!”I scream. “No!!”they yell back. “Ugh kill me now!” I thought. Never in my life had I ever been that frustrated.
“Calm down.” I tell myself, “What can I do to calm them down?” Then it hit me. “Hey, Jaci and Peyt, do you want a snack and a movie?” Yes, yes, yes!!” was their reply. I figured that they would want to sit down and eat because they were probably hungry.
They sit down and start watching Frozen. I pop some popcorn and we have a pretty good afternoon. We played a little after that, but then their mother came and picked them up. If I learned anything from that experience, it’s that if you give kids food they are angels.

The Best Summer Ever

It was July 2nd,my birthday! My family was at my grandparents house.I thought I wouldn’t get any presents.I knew it would be a fun day but I wasn’t expecting anything extravagant. I didn’t believe what came next.

My Nana and Aunt said for me to close my eyes.I did, they led me down the hall towards my room. I felt myself smile. The door opened.

“Open your eyes!”my Nana said. I opened my eyes and screamed! I had a new room!it was purple and animal print. My aunt had took a lamp and duck taped it pink and then painted it sparkly purple. I also got glass flowers,a zebra bed spread ,and a bulliton board! My favorite part was the purple rug.I was so delighted.I gave my Nana and aunt a massive hug each.My cousins were both racing around the room. They loved it too.

I plopped down in my chair and looked around in awe. I adored my room

I learned that I needed to trust in my loved ones.Even though I didn’t think I would get any thing I just trusted in my loved ones and got the best gift of my life!

The Day I Got My Hand Stuck

Last year in school we were coming back from lunch.I was first in line and rested my arm on the railing. I yanked my arm up. It wouldn’t budge! My friend had to get the teacher. We had to use soap. All of my classmates walked by. My face turned cherry red.I didn’t look at any of them.It smelled like soap.  The nurse squeezed soap on my arm. I pulled and pulled ! Finally, POP! my arm came out! Now  I know when things seem bad think of the positives.
