Butterfly Weed

The Butterfly Weed is a wild flower found in all regions of Texas.It has orange and red  petals that bloom in June through September.Its scientific name is Asclepias tuberosa and its scientific classification is Asclepiadaceae.It can grow to be up to 2 feet tall and grows in sandy well-drained soil.It likes full sun and does not need a lot of water.Did you know these flowers produce a large quantity of nectar throughout the growing season?You can find this flower no matter where you are.                                     I found my info at www.aggiehorticulture.tamu.edu
